In order to be granted a work permit a lawyer is expected to have at least 5 years PQE. In exceptional circumstances less can be accepted.

Technically it is completely free of tax. You will, however, have to pay a social security contribution of 4.75% of salary. Please note that some countries, such as the United States, still levy income taxes on their citizens wherever they are in the world so seek advice before accepting your job.

You will almost certainly work shorter hours. A lawyer may well be used to getting home at 1am in London after a long days work.
